Ronnie McNutt was an American veteran from Mississippi. He went viral on the internet after he committed suicide by shotiting himself in the head while he was live on Facebook on August 31 of 2020. According to reports, he was an army veteran that served in Iraq and worked at a plant in Blue Springs, New Albany, before doing the horrible thing.

There were multiple reports that suggested that Ronnie committed suicide because he had lost his job and broke up with his girlfriend. There were also reports that suggested that he was suffering from PTSD, which is a common mental health problem amongst those people that have served the military and have fought many wars. 

The story of Ronnie McNutt went viral on the internet because Facebook took a very long time for the video to get it down. Because the video was up for some time and managed to get a lot of views and shares, it managed to go and become viral on platforms such as YouTube, Twitter and TikTok.

They said: “ In the midst of a sudden tragedy that occurred last night, we grieve with the McNutt Family during this time because of the passing of our brother in Christ, Ronnie McNutt. “We love and pray for everyone in the McNutt family, Celebration Church, and those affected by Ronnie’s passing. We can take comfort in our Shepard’s arms by drawing near to Him during this time, having Him comfort us while we grieve with those who grieve. God Bless!”

It is also believed that Ronnie McNutt had PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder), which is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

Some of his friends, including Josh Steen, said that he was suffering from PTSD. Steen said that his PTSD was a result of taking part in tours in the Iraq War.

On August 31, 2020, Ronnie McNutt set up his computer’s webcam and sat in front of it while he was holding a gun. It was reported that he was intoxicated while he was sitting in front of the computer.

Joshua Steen, his best friend, tried to intervene on the live stream a couple of times, especially when his best friend of 20 years misfired the gun. He hoped that Facebook would cut off the stream and end the video feed, which would prevent people from seeing what he was doing. He also sought police intervention while this was happening however Facebook did not do anything. Not long after him trying to stop his best friend, McNutt shot himself in the head. 

The New Albany Police Department were called to the scene during the livestream, however, they did not enter the apartment of McNutt after he had passed away.
