Patry killed Berlin, his former boss, after a dispute over money. He claimed that he acted in self-defence, but the jury found that he was not acting in self-defence and convicted him of manslaughter. He was released on parole in December of 2017 after serving five years of his six-year sentence. As  of 2019, his current whereabouts are unknown. Some have speculated that he has returned to Quebec, but this has not been confirmed.

Patry’s case garnered a lot of media attention due to the nature of the crime and the fact that he was a previously convicted felon. Some also questioned why he was released on parole after serving such a  short sentence. However, his case did highlight the need for rehabilitation programs for convicted criminals.

Patry’s story is a reminder that everyone makes mistakes, and that people can change. He was able to turn his life around after being released from prison and was working as an electrician before he was charged with murder. It is unfortunate that his  story ended in tragedy, but hopefully, he can be used as a cautionary tale and others can learn from his mistakes.
