Walmart Health plans to add four health centers in Oklahoma City in 2024, adding another state to its growing footprint.

The new centers will be about 5,800 square feet each and located next to Walmart Supercenters, the mega-retailer said Wednesday. They will offer primary care, lab, X-ray, behavioral health, dental and hearing services, among others, although the offerings may vary by location.

In March, Walmart Health announced it will open 28 new centers in 2024, including six centers in the Phoenix metro area, four in metro Kansas City, 10 in the Dallas region and eight in metropolitan Houston. Arizona and Missouri are also new states for the health centers. The company said last October it would add 16 centers in Florida by fall 2023.

Walmart plans to have about 80 health centers nationwide by the end of 2024. It also operates centers in Arkansas, Georgia and Illinois.

The retailer has been in the healthcare space for about a decade, dipping into clinical trials, preventive care for employer groups and pharmacy services. Its core retail operations span internationally, with an estimated 90% of the U.S. population living within 10 miles of a Walmart location. In Oklahoma, Walmart has more than 130 retail locations and nearly 35,000 employees.
