Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday, with investors fretting about the possibility of an economic recession as central banks across the world take aggressive actions to contain a surge in inflation.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 562 points, or 1.81%, minutes after opening to 30,534.97.
The S&P 500 was trading 61.77 points lower, or 1.63%, at 3,763.86, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 141.79 points, or 1.28%, to 10,981.64 minutes after the opening bell.
