Sri Lanka’s Stylish Garments opens 6th factory in Ambalangoda

Sri Lanka’s Stylish Garments (Pvt.) Ltd. recently opened its sixth factory in Ambalangoda to manufacture jerseys for kids, including school uniforms, targeting only the UK and European markets.  The $3.5-million project is approved by the Board of Investment (BOI) and will generate 500 jobs. BOI and the company signed an agreement in this regard recently.

“The new venture will uplift the livelihood of the people living in the Ambalangoda area plus become a crucial source of bringing dollars to the country in a situation where the country is in dire need of dollars,” BOI director general Renuka M Weerakone was quoted as saying by domestic media reports.

Founder and incumbent chairman of the company Leelaratne Hattanarachchi said he is determined to launch new projects irrespective of present challenges to fetch dollars for the country.
