India’s FY22 gross direct tax collection till Sep 22 sees 47% growth

Net direct tax collection in India for fiscal 2021-22 till September 22 is ₹5,70,568 crore compared to ₹3,27,174 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal—an increase of 74.4 per cent. The gross collection of direct taxes (before adjusting for refunds) for the period in this fiscal stands at ₹6,45,679 crore compared to ₹4,39,242 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal—a growth of 47 per cent.

The latest net collection figure is 27 per cent higher than the fiscal 2019-20 figure of ₹4,48,976 crore. This includes corporate income tax (CIT) of ₹3,02,975 crore and personal income tax (PIT, which includes security transaction tax [STT]) of ₹2,67,593 crore.

The gross collection as on September 22 in this fiscal has registered a growth of 16.75 per cent over the fiscal 2019-20 figure of ₹5,53,063 crore.

The gross direct tax collection (before adjusting for refunds) for the period this fiscal stands at ₹6,45,679 crore compared to ₹4,39,242 crore in the same period in FY21—a growth of 47 per cent.

The gross collection includes CIT of ₹3,58,806 crore and PIT (including STT) of ₹2,86,873 crore.

Refunds amounting to ₹75,111 crore have also been issued in this fiscal so far, an official release said.
