FBCCI signs 2 MOUs with Brazil to enhance trade ties

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce, which are two of Brazil’s most influential trade organisations. “Through this cooperation agreement, FBCCI aims to facilitate expansion of Bangladesh’s footprint in South America which holds manifold opportunities for trade and investment,” FBCCI said on its website.

The first MoU was signed by FBCCI president Jashim Uddin on behalf of the FBCCI. The signing between the Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce and Industry and FBCCI took place in Rio de Janeiro on July 20. Bangladesh’s foreign affairs state minister Shahriar Alam, Bangladesh ambassador to Brazil Sadia Faizunnesa, and the president of Brazil Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Shahriar Ahmed were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.

The FBCCI signed the other MoU with Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce, which was formalised in Sao Paulo on July 21, according to Bangladeshi media reports.

Jashim Uddin had also met ApexBrasil, Brazil’s trade and investment promotion agency, and the main industry representative organisation National Industry Confederation (CNI) earlier. Topics connected to bilateral trade and investment potentials, challenges, and future steps were discussed at these meetings.
