Poly spun prices dip in north India due to poor demand, PC yarn stable


Market sentiments further dampened in polyester-cotton and poly spun yarn market in north India. Lukewarm demand from weaving industry is cause of concern for traders, and there was element of uncertainty in the entire value chain. However, traders expect improvement in buying by end users. The price of poly spun yarn slipped by ₹4-5 per kg in Ludhiana.

According to trade sources, weaving industry is waiting for better lifting from garment units. Therefore, weaving mills are cautious for new purchases. A Ludhiana-based trader told Fibre2Fashion, “Buyers are cautious about fresh deals as future demand is uncertain. Liquidity is also very tight.”

In Ludhiana market, poly spun yarn prices declined by ₹4-5 per kg due to weaker demand. Poly spun yarn of various counts including 30 count were sold cheaper. However, polyester-cotton prices were noted at previous level. According to trade sources, payment condition was very tight which is affecting buying capacity of weaving industry. Overall muted demand dampened market sentiments. 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) was sold at ₹265-280 per kg (GST inclusive), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) was priced at ₹230-240 per kg. 20 count PC (recycled-O/E) PSF yarn (40/60) was traded at ₹190-200 per kg. 30 count poly spun yarn was sold at ₹168-175 per kg. High tenacity recycled fibre steadied at ₹89-94 per kg.

Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Limited did not change prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), monoethylene glycol (MEG) and MELT for the current week. On last Friday, RIL has kept prices at previous level as: PTA ₹85.80 per kg, MEG ₹52.30 per kg and MELT at ₹91.57 per kg. PSF price also remained unchanged at ₹116 per kg. But the company may revise prices today evening for next fortnight.

North India cotton prices remained bearish as cotton futures declined in domestic and international exchanges. Haryana’s mandis are witnessing consistent arrival of new cotton. Initial arrival was noticed in Punjab’s mandis. More trade deals are recorded for October delivery. Cotton prices declined by around ₹200-300 per maund of 37.2 kg. New cotton was traded at ₹9,100-9,300 per maund for ready delivery in Punjab and Haryana. October delivery deals were finalised at ₹8,000-8,200 per maund. Forward deals are taking place in upper Rajasthan at the same prices. There was no significant trade in lower Rajasthan where new cotton crop comes later.
