Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the ₹100 lakh crore PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity where sea, road, rail and air transport modes do not compete with each other, but rather, complement each other. The plan aims to improve India’s productive capacity and global competitiveness with regard to manufacturing.
Launching the Master Plan, Modi said that due to the wide gap between macro planning and micro implementation problems of lack of coordination, lack of advance information, thinking and working in silos are leading to hampered construction and wastage of budget. The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan will address this as working on the basis of the master plan will lead to optimum utilisation of resources.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that with the development of quality infrastructure, India can realise the dream of becoming the business capital of the world.

Under the project, to be spearheaded by the logistics division in the commerce ministry, a digital platform has been created to bring 16 ministries, including Road transport and Railways, together for integrated planning and implementation of infrastructure projects.
By 2024-25, the project, with the tag line ‘Gati se Shakti’, aims to expand the national highway network to 2 lakh kilometres, and increase cargo handling capacity of railways to 1,600 million tons.
The PM Gati Shakti will kick off a cycle of investments, employment, demand & growth, according to minister of civil aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The Master Plan is a giant stride towards achieving India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy.
