Gen 2 Carbon, formerly ELG Carbon Fibre, will be exhibiting at JEC World 2022, from May 3-5, 2022, in Paris, in booth F5, hall 6. It is the company’s debut at the composites show following a management buyout in May 2021. It will be maximising its debut through the introduction of a supremely lightweight 60 gsm, recycled carbon fibre nonwoven fabric.

Part of the G-TEX product range, the new 60 gsm mats have been developed in response to customer requests for materials that combine the flexibility of carded textiles with a lower fibre area weight, usually associated with wet-laid products. The company states this offering will strongly appeal to customers in several market segments, owing to the products’ excellent drapeability, superior surface finish and consistent, low fibre areal weight, the company said in a media statement.

A selection of striking automotive, aerospace and marine components manufactured with Gen 2 Carbon’s nonwoven technologies will also be displayed at JEC World. The technical team will be available to answer questions and advise on fabric selections. G-TEX 60 gsm mats can be processed with any resin system, used as either dry fabrics in liquid moulding processes or as prepregs for autoclave and press moulding.

“Customers have been asking for lower fibre aerial weight products to meet specific needs for some time. Our technical team has responded through the development of this next generation carbon fibre technology, providing an effective solution to customers in the automotive, aerospace, electronics and wind energy sectors,” Frazer Barnes, CTO at Gen 2 Carbon, said in a statement.
