China’s waterway cargo volume rises 4.7% YoY from Jan-Sept 2022


China’s waterway cargo transport rose by 4.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in the first three quarters of 2022. In September 2022, 717.17 million tonnes of cargo were carried via China’s waterways.

During the first nine months of 2022, over 6.29 billion tonnes of cargo were transported via the nation’s waterways, according to the ministry of transport.

More than 6.29 billion tonnes of cargo were transported via the nation’s waterways from January to September 2022, according to data from the ministry of transport.

Hubei province recorded a 24.6 per cent YoY growth in waterway cargo volume during the period, followed by South China’s Hainan province and northeast China’s Liaoning province, according to Chinese media reports.
